- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for heat
For Serving:
- 3 green onions sliced into one-inch pieces

Instructions
Prepare the Beef:
- Place the thinly sliced flank steak in a bowl and toss with cornstarch until coated on all sides. Set aside for 10 minutes. This process helps tenderize the beef and give it a nice coating before frying.1/4 cup cornstarch, 1 pound flank steak
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and set aside.1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup water
- In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices slowly, being sure to not overcrowd the pan. Cook until crispy and brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the beef from the pan and drain excess oil onto paper towels.1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Pour out excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan. Add the minced garlic and minced ginger to the pan. Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. If desired, add red pepper flakes for additional heat.1 teaspoon fresh ginger, 4 cloves garlic, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Pour the soy sauce mixture from step 3 into the pan. Bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 2-4 minutes to let the sauce thicken.
- Add the fried beef back into the sauce. Toss until beef is coated with the sauce, then cook for another minute.
Prepare the Vegetables:
- Remove the top, core, and base of the bell peppers and slice into thin strips. Thinly slice the carrot into small 1/8th inch sections.1 carrot, 1 red bell pepper, 1 green bell pepper
